Not only did we have a day out at the Taunton Flower Show on Saturday we also had a day off from the unpacking on Sunday too. As OH was due to go back to work today we decided we would have a nice family lunch out on Sunday and had heard good things about the local village pub.
We booked ourselves in for lunch and had a lazy morning before heading off to our local, the Winchester Arms for a late lunch at 1.30pm.
On Sundays they do a two course lunch for £10.50 or three courses for £12.50 – as we skipped breakfast we went for the three courses. Small person had the children’s menu for £5.50 which was a main course and an ice cream pudding.
OH and I both had whitebait to start – one of our favourite things. For main course I had roast pork, stuffing, crackling, roast potatoes and veg (red cabbage, broccoli, swede and carrots) and gravy. OH had the roast lamb. It was all delicious, the crackling was very crunchy, the roasties were crisp, the pork was melt in the mouth delicious and the veg had bite where wanted. OH said only good things about his roast lamb. For pudding I had chocolate torte and OH had chocolate and raspberry trifle.
It was all lovely, great value for money and we didn’t eat again for the rest of the day.
We were very pleased that we had decided to treat ourselves to lunch out – not something we do very often at all. It was a nice way to finish a very busy week.
Today was very, very rainy so small person played in all day and I continued to tackle boxes and chaos. The dining room/study still needs a lot of work – there are no boxes left to unpack but there is little to no order with everything that has been unpacked in here. The rest of the house is pretty sorted – the garage, on the other hand, that will take some work.
Tomorrow small and I will be exploring Taunton a little.
Thank you for bearing with me – I am hoping to start making and crafting again very soon.
