Avoiding the dismal

I haven’t posted for a couple of days as we have had friends visiting.

They arrived on Wednesday, just before lunchtime.  The children got straight on with serious Lego building while friend and I caught up over a cup of tea and then after lunch it was off to the park where they played, swung, slid, climbed, ran, jumped, skipped – you get the picture.

After about three hours (!) it was home and lots more serious Lego building and then dinner.

On Thursday we all set off early to Weston Super Mare.   We didn’t go to Dismaland as it not really appropriate for small children.  We did, however, have a great day doing all the things you do at the beach: donkey rides (obviously only the children); sandcastle building (oh yes, the adults too), bouncy castle (children only as they don’t let adults on – boo hiss); boat swings; trampolines, a visit to the Pier; and serious amounts of wave jumping.  Simple pleasures.

A great day was had by all.

Today some more furniture upcycling was embarked upon – more on that in a day or so.

Until tomorrow…
