I was planning  a catch up post some time around now – I had taken a lovely photo of the new Persephone books OH bought me for Christmas – added to that was going to be a summary of the ‘best bits’ of our festive period.

However  OH has finally collapsed into an exhausted sleep after receiving a phone call some hours ago telling him that his sister has died suddenly and unexpectedly.

Insomnia is my companion at the best of times so I am watching the clock tick by knowing that in a couple of hours Flo will be awake and we will have to tell her that her adored aunty has died.

Sis-in-law leaves two sons, young men in their 20s making their way in the world but tonight both feeling very young and overwhelmed.  There is no OH for sis-in-law, he left when the boys were toddlers and refused all contact with them from the day he left – his loss.   She was their all, it will be tough for them.  Their loss is the greatest of all those left stunned by the suddenness and unexpectedness of her death.

A post like this should probably end with something moving or at least slightly profound but buggery buggery bollocks is the best I can manage.
